Mitel MiCloud End of Life: Your July 6, 2026 Migration Plan

Written by Andrew Williamson | Jun 24, 2026 11:16:19 PM

If your organization runs on MiCloud by RingCentral, often still called Mitel MiCloud, here is the short version: the platform reaches End of Life on July 6, 2026, and after that cutoff, the service is disconnected. Once it shuts down, there are no calls, no access, and no data recovery. This guide covers what happens, whether you can keep your phone numbers, and how to migrate without a last-minute scramble.

When does Mitel MiCloud by RingCentral shut down?

The hard date is July 6, 2026. This is not a slow wind-down or a reduced-service mode. The platform goes dark, and there is no grace period for stragglers.

The shutdown date is the cliff. The real work happens in the weeks before it, and that work has a floor you cannot compress past. RingCentral's own guidance was to select a replacement provider by January 1, 2026 to allow adequate time for porting, configuration, and training. If that date has already passed for you, do not panic. It does mean your evaluation window is tighter, and the choice of who leads your migration becomes the most important decision you make.

Can you keep your existing phone numbers?

Yes. You have the right to port your phone numbers, both local and toll-free, to a new provider. Porting is the process of moving your numbers off the old platform and onto the new one.

The catch is timing. Guidance is to allow up to six weeks for porting and longer for accounts with 100 or more numbers. The losing carrier controls when numbers actually release, so this is the single most time-sensitive item on your list. Start too close to the deadline, and you risk a window where your main numbers are live on neither system.

How long a phone system migration really takes

Porting is only one piece. A well-run migration also includes discovery, building and configuring the new system, testing, training, and a stabilization period after go-live. A typical migration runs roughly six to ten weeks from kickoff to cutover. That is the math to plan against.

Your two paths: the default upgrade or a real evaluation

You have two broad options.

The first is to take the default upgrade the platform offers. The upside is speed and convenience, since one provider controls both sides of the move. The downside is that you never look at the wider market, and you may land on a platform that was chosen for you rather than for you.

The second is to evaluate your options against what your organization actually needs: reliability, mobility, simple administration, E911 compliance, and the integrations your teams already rely on. The upside is a system that fits. The tradeoff is that evaluation takes coordination, and coordination takes time.

That tradeoff is exactly where the right partner changes the math.

How to make the deadline without doing it alone

A deadline like this is stressful mostly because of everything it asks you to juggle at once. Vendor conversations, contracts, porting paperwork, data exports, staff training, and a hard cutoff, all while keeping your phones answered.

This is where a supplier-neutral partner takes the pressure off. Instead of managing competing vendor pitches yourself, you get one team that helps you evaluate the right fit, handles the procurement and porting coordination, keeps the project on schedule, and stays involved through go-live and after. You keep your numbers, you keep your data, and your team is not the one untangling carrier release dates at 11 p.m.

The platform's retirement is not the problem to solve. Arriving at the deadline with working phones, your data intact, and a system that fits your organization is key. With the right support, that is an entirely reachable outcome.
